Bringing it Back

In the construction industry, the staff at Pelican Builders Group is always aware of new trends.

In lighting, one of the latest it-trends has made its comeback dating from about 100 years ago, and that is — gas lanterns. Having gas lighting is now a modish look for the exterior and interior of a home.

One reason for the comeback is its romantic-styled light.  Its appearance is also beautiful, flattering and elegant, a look incomparable to electric lighting. In order to get that perfect look, the lanterns are made with mirrors and glass to reflect light, which illuminates the area even brighter.  The trick to this also adds a lovely glow.

Some of the locals in our very own Thibodaux are loving their gas lanterns. “I love the cozy feel the lanterns give off in my back patio. It’s the perfect form of lighting for any home, inside or out,” from the owner of the picture above.

And you may be wondering, “Why switch to gas lighting if electric is more beneficial?”  It’s because of newer technology that companies are able to make gas lighting fixtures safe, efficient and easy as electric.  For example, the gas lanterns come with electric safety starters and minimal gas use, which we know guarantees their security. You can also now get the look of gas in electric!

Our decorating tip would be to definitely add a gas lantern (or electric) to your home – it’s ornamental and useful.

Also, our favorite lighting companies from the New Orleans area are Bevelo Lighting and Flambeaux Lighting.  They have so many styles available and have even gained popularity throughout the country.
